Its location, both near the equator and the sea, makes it vulnerable to the effects of a tropical modality, including monsoons and typhoons. Being a low-lying country, Bangladesh has only a few peaks and highlands spread throughout various reaches of the landscape. Overall, the country is known for being highly vulnerable to various weather-related calamities, stemming from the tropical monsoon climate and being such a low location related to sea level.Being a unitary state, Bangladesh thus consolidates all of its government power within the central government. The parliament is elected every five years, which sits in a single, unicameral chamber. Jane Austen :: essays research papers

She puts to rest her pots and pans and takes a new stand. She is conniving and explicit in her manipulative ways. She cares deeply for her beloved children. She fears not being headstrong and liberal-minded, and she actually believes that her epiphanies are gospel truth to her own life. Most important of all, she takes action, is heroic in her boldness to fix the wrong, and does not hesitate to look back on what she leaves behind. In his nineteenth century plays, Henrik Ibsen portrays Norwegian women sharing and contrasting many, and more, of these strong qualities. Like a vigorous and professional artist, Ibsen paints vivid female characters in his skillfully tragic plays, creating diversity among them. In three of his plays alone, A Dolls House, An Enemy of the People, and Hedda Gabler, women are shown to play various roles under different circumstances in nineteenth century Norway. In these plays, the womens characteristics range from being maternal and conservative, to being ra dically liberal and nonconforming. In Ibsens play, A Dolls House, the protagonist is in fact, a woman, named Nora. At the onset of the play, Nora is shown to be like the traditional mother, simply making preparations for Christmas events. She is portrayed as a strikingly pretty and almost perfect wife who is affectionate, kind, and always obedient to her husband saying things such as, I should not think of going against your wishes. However, this surface is only a mere coer to what really lies in the heart of Nora. It becomes evident that Nora is not completely complacent with her life. Gradually it becomes evident that she takes pleasures in other things that she does not have. For example, she longs for an plenteous lifestyle and indulges in material things because she is more youthfully extravagant than she is maternal. In the play, she even admits herself that she desires grand opulence, saying, I used to sit here and imagine that a rich old gentleman had fallen in love with m eand that he died and that his will contained The lovely Mrs. Nora Helmer is to have all I possess paid over to her at once in cash. To fantasize about such a greedy thing shows that Nora prefers being a single and wealthy woman in society. Not only was Nora hungry for money, but she was hungry for simple respect. In all the years she was married to Helmer, no one ever took Nora seriously or accredited her with anything.

Economic Trade-off Analysis of Cracker Jack :: essays papers

Economic Trade-off Analysis of center JackWhen I was little, Cracker Jack came in cardboard boxes, and the prize inside was often pretty cool a whistle or a ring,or some corresponding gadget. This was also in the days when Oscar Mayer gave away tiny hot-dog-shaped whistles as promotionalitems. In those days, whistles were pretty popular. Slidewhistles were a very common favor at birthday parties.I remember an older cousin came hazard from the army once, and he had a really cool whistle that compete several unlike notes. It had come out of a box of cracker jacks. My supplier in those days was my grandfather, who conveniently owned a liquor store. My brother and sister played withmy cousins in canyons and caves made out of the corrugatedcardboard crates in the storeroom of beer and cigarettes. Of allthe goods in the store, the interesting ones were the freezer(ice cream), the candy rack, and the magazines (Archie, RichieRich, The Avengers, Fantastic Four...). The comics must ingest come from a Marvel distributor rather than DC, because Batmanand Superman were rarities Spiderman was ubiquitous.Cracker Jack was advertised as Americas favorite snack. Therewere some drawbacks that were well-known to 10-year olds backthen. First, the pour spout was a fraud. Push here to open wasa lie. The box was not perforated there, and it was difficult ifnot impossible for small fingers to puncture the cardboard. Farmore effective was to peel away the outer wrapper and slip openthe box at a seam. The other well-known seed was that all thepeanuts were always at the bottom. The problem with the peanutsdidnt bother me, however, since I didnt care much for them.I was in the store the other day, and ran into Americasfavorite snack again. The harvest-tide hung in four-ounce bagsnear the bakery section of the supermarket. Bags of CrackerJack? The package coloring was the same, the logo was still aboy in a bluejacket outfit accompanied by a dog Sailor Jack andBingo. It was 99 cents, and there was a surprise inside. Didntit used to specify a run surprise inside?I had known that for some time now, Cracker Jack did not comewith real toys instead, todays youngsters get tiny jokebooks or stickers. No whistles or rings or anything thatmight possibly present either a choking hazard or a potentiallawsuit. Besides, physical composition is a lot cheaper to manufacture thanplastic, so Im sure the profit margins went up. Todays prize, once I opened up the the package, was a paper ring.

Scrooge in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Essay -- Christmas Car

scrooge in A Christmas Carol by Charles DickensThe novel, A Christmas Carol, is more than just a mere story insteadit tries to expose the negative side of Victorian society and thereason behind this horror, the avarice of the wealthy, through thedevelopment of the character Scrooge. All this while attempting toprompt readers with Scrooges similar wealth to make a change. Asmentioned earlier, the development of Scrooges character is vital tothis and I will explain how his character develops as the storyproceeds and how it is used to accomplish the aim as mentioned above. In the first stave, Dickens tries to point out that Scrooge is acharacter that society considers negative. In the introduction,Dickens points out Scrooges wealth to straightway aim any point aboutsociety not only to average people but in particular to people ofScrooges similar wealth, he does this by describing Scrooge as anexcellent man of business on the very day of the funeral, this notonly proves Scrooges wealth but also that Scrooge is a coldcharacter, the first hint of the truly negative character of Scroogeto be revealed later in this stave, since he has the heart to dobusiness on the day of the funeral of his long time business partner. What makes this worse is that Marley was Scrooges equal in term ofcharacter as far as the story goes since Dickens chose to describewhat Scrooge meant to Marley as his sole executor, his soleadministrator, his sole friend and his sole lamenter, therefore sinceScrooge showed little sympathy in the death of his equal it givesthe readers a sense of cannibalism since Scrooge is practicallyturning his back on Marley in his death. Even in the introduction,Dickens ... ...as changed as Scrooge is not usually earnest at all. Not onlywhich, Scrooge seems to be a pass around happier later on this change as provenby the quote Oh, glorious. This is Scrooge describing theenvironment, in his description he describes it positively showing asign that he is happier. T his is important as it is a signal toreaders in Scrooges financial situation that they will be happierafter the change. My conclusion is that Scrooges character is used by Dickens torepresent an exgaratted stereotypical version of the Victorian wealthybusinessman who is greedy. The story is not only an attempt by Dickensto tell these businessmen what they are missing out on by beinggreedy(as proven by Scrooges happiness after the change) but alsomeant to expose the unfairness in Society where the rich who can dothe most to improve lives do not even undertake to do so.

How the microhistories work against and within the apparatus of society

Michel de Certeau, foc calls on how practical means remain unconsumed by consumer society Luce Giard delves into the tactics of resistance and cloak-and-dagger practices that turn living into a subversive art. Both two theorize the idea of making do, emphasizing on how the microhistories work against and within the apparatus of society. Influenced by Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan, Michel de Certeau tends to integrate the theories of conscious and unconscious with his notion of everyday practice, focusing on the interrelation, inter action at law, interreiteration between the force of strategy and the power of tactic. Certeaus concept potently echoes to Foucaults notion of disciplinary system in modern society, further nourishing it with plebeian energy. In chapter III Making Do Uses and Tactics, he theorizes the productive practice and consumptive activity inherent in repetitive and unconscious everyday life. A strategy, which is linked to institutions and structures of powe r( producer), according to Certeau, is called the calculation( or manipulation) of power relationships that becomes mathematical as soon as a subject with will and powercan be isolated(35-36), whereas a tactic is a calculated action determined by the absence of a proper locus(36-37), and is used by individuals( consumers) to resist to the dominant order in environment defined by strategies. In chapter VII, Walking in the City, Certeau contends that the city, described as a unified whole by maps is generated by the strategies of governments, corporations, and other institutions. Certeau argues that, everyday life, which works by a process of poaching on the territory of others, though, using the principles, rules, constructions, products established in th... ...ody technique, they ways in which from society to society men know how to use their bodies(203). Superimposed invention, tradition, and education give the gesture a form of efficacy that suits the physical makeup and pract ical intelligence(203). Gestures lasts only as long as its utility function, when they die out, words sometimes still subsist, in the memory of the bygone past(208). By examining the new market habits, Giard points out that the gestures and practice of the get woman have had to be transformed into a new killed ability in order to negotiate with those habits, which construct a collective scientific noesis(209). Giard concludes that in the age of overmodernization, room remains for microinventions, for people working on their physical activities to make choice among the tools and commodities produced within the social apparatus.

Inhibitory Potential Changes of Fluoxetine (Prozac) :: Biology Medicine Research Papers

Inhibitory Potential Changes of Fluoxetine (Prozac)Over the past some(prenominal) decades many scientists consume explored the various possible links between the function of neurotransmitters in the brain and mood disorders. The neurotransmitter serotonin, found widely in plants, animals and humans has been a particular focus. Scientists who specialize in examining the function and effect of serotonin on the mind and body argue that imbalances in the levels and function of serotonin can be linked to disturbances in mood, anxiety, satiety, cognition, aggression and sexual drives (Tollefson and Rosenbalum, 2001). More specifically, these scientists suggest that this decreased serotonergic neurotransmission plays an important role in the etiology of depression (Xia, Gopal, and Gross, p. 157, 2002). Indeed studies that have examined serotonin via its major metabolite, 5-hydroxyndoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) consistently indicate that 5-HIAA levels are low in the cerebrospinal fluid of dep ressed patients (Davison, Neale and Kring, 2004). Because serotonin does not cross the blood-brain barrier, it must be synthesized locally. That is, it must be synthesized from within neurons in the brain. Once it is synthesized is then released into the synapse from the cytoplasmic and vesicular reservoirs. Following release, serotonin is principally inactivated by re-uptake into nerve terminals done a sodium/potassium (Na+/K+) adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) dependent carrier. (Tollefson and Rosenbalum, p. 27, 2001). Problems arise when too much serotonin is recaptured in the reuptake process during synapse or when to little serotonin is being locally manufactured in the central nervous system. As a result, too few serotonin neurotransmitters are able to make it across the synaptic cleft to stimulate postsynaptic receptors. Moreover, in the absence of pharmacological manipulation, the reuptake of serotonin into the presynaptic nerve terminal typically leads to its i nactivation (Tollefson and Rosenbalum, p. 32, 2001).Low levels of serotonin have been most commonly linked to depression. For this reason, there have been many attempts by neuroscientists to develop antidepressant drugs that can interfere with the enzymes that eliminate serotonin neurotransmitters from the synapse. Indeed, though reuptake inhibition scientists hoped to be able to increase levels of serotonin in the CNS and thus ameliorate the negative affects of depression. One of the most recent breakthroughs in this prosecution was the development of the antagonist drug, fluoxetine. Effects Of Smoking Ban On Students Education Essay

AbstractionThe instruct hummer breastwork insurance has been recommended and even implemented in assorted establishments but m any inquiries ar still being raised about its significance and how effectual it is to the targeted commonwealth. This survey seeks to happen out whether it is necessary to have got pot hindrance indemnity in schools and whether it has an consequence on the over all told life of the pupils. The survey besides aims at happening out how effectual corporation prohibition policy can be and the appropriate scheme that should be applied to do it effectual. In order to happen out these the survey result affect aggregation of cultures both from primary and secondary beginnings which leave alone so be verified, analyzed, and a study prep ard. The result of this inquiry resulting be of here and now to the implementers of green goddess prohibition in schools as it will assist them maximise the benefits associated with such a policy.IntroductionThe exe cution of tobacco-free milieus in school is now a viridity tendency in most parts of the universe and this follows a recommendation by the Center for Disease Control ( CDC, 1994 ) . This recommendation was one of the tools that was aimed at ascendent wood pussy among the young persons therefore it was a scheme that targeted the young persons and involve the prohibition of have within the school premises or belongings including at events that involved schools even when taking topographic point off from the school ( CDC, 1994 ) . It non merely restricted pupils but besides school forces and visitants were included in this wall bracket provided they were within the restricted zones and events. This policy has nevertheless been defined some otherwise from one part to another, either manner the above elements must be addressed and included in the definition ( Small et al, 2001 ) .PurposesIt is a common pattern that before any policy is recommended or implemented significant groun ds must be provided to demo that it is truly significant and will run into the intended ends non burying to advert the effects that it may dominate on the targeted group and the community at big. Such issues have ever led to many inquiries being asked most of which can merely be answered by means of look for or related surveies. The scum bag prohibition is one of such issues and has ever faced a figure of unfavorable judgments and support in about equal proportion since it is an issue that touches the day-after-day lives of many. The fact people ar free to cola anyplace and at anytime niftyly affects the life of non-smokers negatively while is enjoyed by tobacco users conversely, smoking limitations is hefty intelligence to non-smokers but bad intelligence to tobacco users therefore such policies need appropriate and in-depth analysis before they are implemented. The chief purpose of this research will be to happen out the kinship amongst the smoke prohibition and the ac ademic public unveiling of pupils and to assist in this the undermentioned doubt will be answered is school smoking prohibitions helpful or harmful to pupils? This will so get by to other sub-questions which include is there a relationship between smoking prohibitions and smoking prevalence among pupils? Does school smoke prohibitions relate to the academic accomplishment of pupils? What is the best scheme to censor smoke in schools? Does the socioeconomic position of the pupils have an consequence on the result of smoking prohibition policy?AimsPresently there are many instances of school agitations caused by pupils through operation stoppages which lead to break of activities and even devastation of belongings. Such actions have more(prenominal) frequently been associated to drug and substance usage among pupils which include smoke, imbibing and other manners of administrating drugs. This has besides led to the drastic decrease on public presentation forms of pupils. Sinc e all these are unwanted occurrences there has been changeless hunt on the realistic and most effectual agencies of asking and at best wholly conveying to an terminal the usage of drugs in schools and all educational establishments. Smoking prohibition in schools has been one of the recommendations that have been put frontward but has faced several challenges with a batch of inquiries being raised on the effectivity of such a move, this has truly affected the execution of this smoke prohibition policy. It is hence really necessary that the arising inquiries be answered and put clearly to be understood so as to ease its execution and the best manner to happen these replies is through research.Given that this survey will non merely happen out the importance of smoking prohibition on schools but besides seek to work out the mystifier on the effectivity of such prohibitions, it will be a really important tool to the implementers of such policies. Through the usage of the consequences of this research schools will be able to place whether it is deserving presenting such a policy, where they have non been, or retentivity the policy, in a instance where they exist. At the same clip, the concerned implementers will place the right schemes to be used to implement smoking prohibition policy in schools. Sing these benefits, it is obvious that this research will be important to the community at big since it addresses an issue that is of great concern among the communities in all districts. Since it touches on the young person who are ever looked upon for future prosperity of any state, the significance will finally be felt all through the state and even beyond boundary lines.Literature reappraisalMany young persons get initiated into smoking through many ways and by different persons, this is a wont that they delay with and neer program to discontinue about throughout their lives and many factors have been pointed out to do this ( Abernathy et al, 2002 Conrad et Al, 1992 ) . Even though school smoke prohibition is the oecumenical recommendation towards halting this wont, there is no touchable grounds that this policy when implemented in isolation leads to a lessening in the prevalence of smoke among pupils and the young person ( Moore et Al, 2006 Darling et Al, 2006 Kumar et Al, 2005 Pentz et Al, 1989 ) . Current surveies have suggested a figure of defects related to the execution of school smoking prohibition such as ineffectuality and the fact that such regulations may be unkind. Smoke and the related wellness behaviours are influenced by such factors as socioeconomic position, instruction, and the general societal environment ( Evans et al, 1994 Harris et Al, 2009 Lowry et Al, 1996 ) . It has been argued that there are pupils who find themselves initiated into smoking through agencies beyond their control, hence, such pupils may be victims of the unintended load brought by school smoke policy ( Martin et al, 2000 ) .Records late pres ented indicate that there has been a decrease in smoke in developed states over the past decennary, the states that have had this noteworthy alteration include Canada, Australia, the United States, and a figure of states within Europe ( CDC, 2003 van der Wilk & A Jansen, 2005 ) . This decrease is nevertheless non due to the school smoke prohibition but is attributed to the lengthy control schemes that have been applied in these states which include Torahs on revenue enhancement and location of smoke, and societal selling. The fact that many schools have implemented the school smoking prohibition policy since its debut by the Center for Disease Control, ir mentionive of whether it is effectual or non, has shown that many schools recognize the inauspicious effects of smoke and are ready to work with the wellness sector in making a society which is smoke-free .MethodologyThis research aims at following a population wellness model of adolescent smoke as this is viewed to be the perf ect population given the aim of the research. With mention to the work of Leatherdale and others ( 2005 ) , a theory was suppose saying that there is a direct connexion between the smoke of young person within the school premises and the subsequent smoke of other pupils. This theory echoes the sentiments expressed by the contagious disease conjectural account of adolescent substance usage which indicate that substance usage among striplings is extremely caused by one-on-one interaction and besides those expressed by other surveies. This research intends to use the multi-level analytical analysis techniques to help in proving for the impact that smoking prohibition has on smoking abetment, these techniques will be used to analyze both school-level and single factors at the same time. The research will besides concentrate on disaffection and school drop-out through the usage of academic public presentation which will move as an alternate index of the former and as a precursor to th e latter taking to a hypothesis associating the academic public presentation and being of regulations against smoking in schools. The hypothesis is that the academic public presentation of pupils in schools holding regulations on smoke or smoke prohibitions will be better compared the academic public presentation of the pupils in schools that do non hold such regulations or policies. This besides includes consciousness of the pupils in such schools of the being of such regulations or policies. It will besides be necessary to explicate multi-level theoretical accounts holding in head the guidelines given by Aveyard et Al ( 2004 ) which advise on the application of single -level features over-controlling. In these guidelines they argue that it is non in order to command for single degree features in a instance where the multi-level surveies are school-based this is because such characteristics are linked both to the person and the school environment.Research designThe research intends to establish on pupils in different parts, such as different states, and utilize a sample design which is single-stage. In this sample design categories are indiscriminately selected and the stratification is done harmonizing to class and school territory and attempts to integrate all pupils who are present on the twenty-four hours of the survey. Before transporting out the research though, it will be of import to acquire consent from the parents of such pupils which follow the demands put frontward by the several heath and instruction sections. In order to roll up equal information, the survey will utilize questionnaires consisting several points these points will seek to happen information sing school regulations, smoke and substance usage, mental wellness, and societal and demographic features. To guarantee that the information collected will be dependable and valid, a really broad population of pupils will be covered and the respondents will be accorded namelessness unless ot herwise they do non necessitate it. The information will besides be compared to the available informations from similar studies to look into for consistence particularly where estimations are involved. The survey may nevertheless confront restrictions which may include inability to roll up information about school smoke policy from the conclusiveness makers therefore the information provided by the pupils will be indispensable every bit limited as they may look.Inclusion/exclusion standardsIndividual-level variablesThe primary single degree variable that would be considered is the being of regulations illegalize smoking harmonizing to the consciousness of the pupil, this will be found out by presenting a inquiry that straight asks this and bragging(a) the pupil an option of giving a straightforward reply to the inquiry. The other variables that will be taken into consideration at the single degree during the research will be grade, gender, abode, socioeconomic position of the hous ehold, and highest degree of instruction of one of the parents, sooner the female parent, which is besides a socioeconomic degree index. solely these variables are viewed to hold a direct consequence on the pupil as an single therefore are of import to see ( Fagan et al, 2005 ) .School-level variablesThere are variables that will be considered at school-level and these will be generated from the responses or informations collected from the single variables. The first variable in this instance is the prevalence of regulations or policy censoring smoke in schools and this will be deduced from the responses given by the pupils as persons and will bespeak the mean per centum of schools that have such regulations. This research is expected to take three hebdomads divided into three subdivisions that are back-to-back and each enduring a hebdomad. The subdivisions will be the pre-study hebdomad, the intercession hebdomad, and the post-study hebdomad in that order. The pre-study hebdomad wi ll be utilized by detecting the smoke behaviours of persons in all the targeted groups and their interaction with pupils, the intercession hebdomad will be for roll uping the needed information through the agencies that have been identified, and the post-study hebdomad will be for analysing the information collected and coming up with a study.Ethical considerationSmoke is a wont that has been embraced by many and more are still fall ining the conference of tobacco users therefore it is an issue that is really sensitive to manage. Apart from holding a societal consequence on persons, it besides touches on the economic system since the concern of coffin nails generates high degree of gross and besides provides employment to a good figure of persons. Recommending and implementing any policy that seems to deter of hinder the sale and usage of coffin nails ever draws assorted reactions from the general population school smoke prohibition is one such policy. It is therefore the considera tion of the survey non to disregard such possible reactions and will avoid being personal on any issue throughout the research procedure. The survey will lodge to the issues that it targets without affecting on other issues that are non connected in any manner to the survey.ResultsThose back uping smoking-free school policies argue that pupils are straight affected by the smoke of those persons who they view as their function theoretical accounts in the community and these include non merely grownups but besides boyfriend young persons who are ever around them. Their attitudes and development of involvement are based on the mode in which people around them handle smoking and how they talk about it and most of the times they will be given to emulate them. There is experimental grounds that have been put frontward with respect to this which indicates that most pupils tend to copy other young persons who smoke within school belongings Oklahoman or subsequently. With respect to this so it is right to province that schools holding smoking prohibitions should register low smoke rates among the pupils both within and outside school.Given that it is non easy to state precisely what per centum of success of non-smoking sum pupils is attributed to smoking prohibitions, there have been assorted grounds with respect to the effectivity of smoking prohibitions. In order to stop this statement so there should be a manner of turn outing that smoking prohibitions have really discouraged the young persons from smoking or affecting in smoking related activities. A figure of surveies have been carried out to happen this and a few have come out with the decision that there is a relationship between smoking prohibitions and decreased smoke among pupils and farther stressing that this greatly relied on the mode in which such a policy is enforced. Conversely, other surveies did non successfully show the nexus that exists between smoking prevalence in schools and smoking prohibition policy in schools. The differences that appear in these are surveies are due to several factors such as the fluctuations in the schemes of implementing and implementing the policy, the purpose behind such policy, and the extent of coverage in footings of population and length of clip. In add-on to these it has been found that there are great fluctuations in the countenances imposed on lawbreakers and the degree of their enforcement, this is apparent both within and outside a individual authorization. The undermentioned hypotheses were therefore put forwardAll the pupils who said that their schools had non adopted the school smoke prohibition policies, or those who were non cognizant of the being of such policies would be extremely exposed to the hazard of smoking proof when compared to their chaps who were in schools where the policy was embraced and the pupils were cognizant of its being notwithstanding the rates of smoke.Students who were in schools with regulations on smoking wo uld appreciate the significance of holding protective mechanisms on smoking induction as compared to pupils from schools that do non hold such regulations. This implies that smoking prohibition would impact positively on the pupils in footings of attitude which would interpret to cut subject smoke rates among the young person. The socioeconomic position of the pupils would be of great influence to the consequences without sing the handiness of the smoke prohibition policy in schools.

Brand Onions The Crying Game: Article analysis

The crying game, Martin Well. Article Analysis The article from Martin Well Is calling Into question the hire of models for brand- perception management. Brand-marketing models may create barriers in the development of brands. By following strict rules, the way for creativity is non accessible. To better understand the article we go away mentioned the main statement from the author, to then better analyze it.Processes in marketing lock the values of companies in a strict way ( the like in a box), and it doses t promote the creativity and the action. Employees will not think out of the box, being locked in those concepts. Then whatever messages, Ideas, options, alternatives, solutions or opinion that do not have a direct link to the rules are automatically rejected. This Is quite Nazi and does not promote Innovation. The brand will not take any risk. Its messages will be very simple. There wont be evolution over the time. The company stays stacked with its values, and launch messa ges around it, but probably this is not what its customer or target is expecting, and believe in. Or it is not well done (the message) and the target group does understand a different meaning of it. In the article, Nikkei is mentioned as an example, and Nines slogan Just Do It Is probably Included In employees minds. This motto Is part of the values of the firm. In this case this value Is very motivating, push button for creation and action. Also It does encourage the employee to think out of the box. A call to action and creatively should always be part of any company s values. Furthermore, these tools do not give much opportunity to adapt to national market, where values and messages could be improved in many cases. Of course it is useful as a junior-grade to help you understand (as a company), who you are, hat you want to achieve, where you are going and why? This is kind of a raisin dtree, witch helps the business and its employees to stay focus, knowing why they are waking up every morning.Any tool should be adapted, changed or only be used as a remembered over the time. Studies, trough tests instantly taking place on the market, analyzing reactions of people). To understand if the message is perceived as we want it to be perceived, or even if it is the right one. Does the target group truly want to be associated to those values? Is there any improvement to be done? Should we stick on our firm-values anyway? Or are we capable to adapt, to evolve, being smarter?I would like to conclude by this post from Erg Manses, witch commented the article we spend most of our time trying to post-rationalize the decisions we make by instinct. The header has two different parts that are (thanks god) connected between each other, meaning that our instinct might not be that instinct, but a devalued connection inside our brain is probably made. Models we are using in order to plan a brand strategy should not be followed like science, but they should be used as differen t tools to orient ourselves.

Learning Strategies Essay

In the poem Students by Tom Wayman, it reviews four theories with context on different scholarship methods. The first opening is the Vaccination Theory of Education, detailing how once you take hold learned a subject, you never have to review or fit on the topic again for it is lodged in onenesss brain for all eternity. However, such a skill technique seems foolish because as time goes on, materials t final stage to shrivel up in ones brain unless occasionally reviewed. With this in mind, material previously learned would venture from ones memory and would leave them lacking of knowledge on the subject. For the best learning, many people including myself would prefer the knowledge once learned to be forever held by the beholder, to use in future situations. The next supposition is The Dipstick Theory of Education. This theory relates learning to that of a car engine only needing oil to a plastered line, therefore only needing to learn to a sure degree. This again seems unre alistic to the many dreamers out there, who are constantly trying to extend the limits, the ones who do not want to be blocked by barricades. infinite material is available for the publics access, which means the learning a soul can achieve is limitless. This theory seems adequate for those individuals who only want to pound by in life. However, the majority of the population who want to succeed and be proud of their success are going to want to stray away from this theory, for it exit only prevent you from following the path you truly want to go down. The Adopt the Kung Fu Theory of Education, is the theory that follows next in the poem. It reviews the idea that one can use knowledge as a self defense mechanism. This theory organises complete sense to me. How else would a person be able to lynchpin up their statements, ideas and opinions better, than with knowledge? Not only does the knowledge help in that area, it can help a person grasp a better soul of the world around them , as well as it can improve their common sense. Use knowledge as a supporter, to smooth the bumps in the pass before you, so you can travel on a trouble free path. The last theory is The Easy perceive Theory of Learning. It proposes that if a person sits back and observes their environment, they can achieve optimal learning. This type of learning seems only achievable for those who learn best through visual or auditory support in settings where they learn most efficiently by viewing or hearing material. However, for those individuals who learn best through hands on tasks, The Easy Listening Theory of Learning, would not be in their favor. It would put them at a disadvantage, and make them fall behind the rest. This theory does not accommodate e reallyone with learning in the same fashion therefore, it cannot be used as a universal learning technique for optimal learning in everyone. My own theory however, differs bulkyly from any of the learning theories displayed in the poem Stu dents. My theory to insure my learning exceeds my own goals is I put in a maximum effort. The goals I set myself are extremely high and almost seem unrealistic. Nonetheless, this is what give me the motivation and strive I need to put in a great deal of effort. Postponing undesirable activities is what I seem to be a natural at, cramming to get them completed when time is limited. It is in that rushed state that I olfactory perception my mind works most efficiently. However, we all know this is a poor work method and that is why I set such high goals to make it seem unrealistic. By doing that, I insure I start the activity at a sooner time because it notions as if I have much to complete than actually necessary. That way, I can keep my eye on the target at all times because it makes me feel as if I have much work to do to achieve it still. In reference to this course, the date I began was much later than any applicants should have started. By doing that, it has given me very limi ted time to get this course completed. It is now that I can truly test out my theory for all that it is worth, because it is now that I feel the completed course expectations are very unrealistic based on the vast material I have to cover by a certain date. However, I plan to be vigilant to get through this course so I can walk the graduation stage at the end of the year. When that dream of mine comes true based on my goals of completing this course, it is then that my theory has once again proved me right in its successfulness.

Project Management and Tran Essay

Tran was taking his dog Callie on her evening walk as the sun began to direct over the coastal range. He wayed forward to this time of the day. It was an opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet. It was also a time to review events on the Ajax take in and plot his next give ways. Ajax is the code name given by CEBEX for a high-tech auspices system befuddle funded by the U. S. Department of Defense (DOD). Tran is the project manager and his core them consisted of 30 full-time hardw be and software system engineers. Tran and his family fled he was 18 and used the education stipend to attend Washington State University. He joined CEBEX upon graduating with a dual degree in mechanical and galvanizing engineering. After working on a variety of projects for 10 years Tran unconquerable he wanted to enter management. He went to night school at the University of Washington to earn an MBA. Tran became a project manager for the money. He also mentation he was good at it. He enjoyed wo rking with people and making the right thing happen. This was his fifth project and up to now he was batting. 500,with half(a) of his projects coming ahead of schedule. Tran was proud that he could now afford to send his oldest child to Stanford University.Ajax was one of many defense projects the CEBEX Corporation had under contract with DOD. CEBEX is a huge defense high society with annual sales in excess of $30 billion and more than 120,000 employees worldwide. CEBEXs five major business areas are Aeronautics, Electronic Systems, Information& Solutions, and Space Systems. Ajax was one of several new projects sponsored by the Integrated Systems & Solutions division aimed at the homeland security business. CEBEX was confident that it could leverage its proficient expertise and political connections to become a major player in this growing market.Ajax was one of several projects directed at designing, developing, and installing a security system at an important government install ation. Tran had two major concerns when he started the Ajax project. The first was the technical risks inherent in the project. In theory the design principles do sense and the project used proven technology. Still the technology had never been applied in the field in this matter. From past experience, Tran knew there was a super difference between the laboratory and the real world. He also knew that integrating the audio, optical, tactile, and laser subsystems would run the patience and ingenuity of his team up. The second concern involved his team. The team was pretty much split down the middle between hardware and electrical engineers. Not only did these engineers have different skill sets and tend to look at problems differently, but generational differences between the two groups were evident as well. The hardware engineers were almost all former military, family men with conservative attire and beliefs. The electrical engineers were a much motlier crew. They tended to be you ng, single, and at times very cocky. While the hardware engineers talked about the Seattle Mariners, raising teenagers, and going to Palm Desert to play golf, the software engineers talked about Vapor, the latest concert at Gorge amphitheater, and going mountain biking in Peru. To make matters worse, tension between these two groups within CEBEX festered around allowance issues. Electrical engineers were at a premium, and the hardware engineers resented the new hires salary packages, which were comparable to what they were earning after 20 years of working for CEBEX.Still the real money was to be made from the incentives associated with project performance. These were all contingent on meeting project milestones and the final completion date. Before actual work started on the project, Tran arranged a tow-day team-building retreat at a lodge on the Olympic peninsula for his entire team as well as key staff from the government installation. He used this time to go over the major obje ctives of the project and unveil the basic project plan. An internal consultant facilitated several team-building activities that made light of cross-generational issues. Tran matte a real sense of camaraderie within the team. The good feelings generated from the retreat carried over to the beginning of the project. The entire team bought into the mission of the project and technical challenges it represented. ironware and electrical engineers worked side by side to solve problems and build subsystems. The project plan was built around a series of five tests, with each test being a more rigorous verification of total system performance. Passing each test represented a key milestone for the project. The team was excited about conducting the first Alpha test one week earlyonly to be disappointed by a series of small(a) technical glitches that ook two weeks of problem solving to resolve. The team worked extra hard to make up for the lost time.Tran was proud of team and how hard membe rs had worked together. The Alpha II test was conducted on schedule, but once again the system failed to perform. This time three weeks of debugging was needed before the team received the green light to move to the next phase of the project. By this time, team goodwill had been tested, and emotions were a bit frayed. A cloud of disappointment descended over the team as hopes of bonuses disappeared with the project falling further behind schedule. This was augmented by cynics who felt that the original schedule was unfair and the deadlines were impossible to begin with. Tran responded by starting each day with a status meeting where the team reviewed what they accomplished the previous day and set new objectives for that day. He believed these meetings were helpful in establishing positive momentum and reinforcing a team identity among the engineers. He also went out of his way to spend more time with the troops, helping them solve problems, offering encouragement, and a sincere pat on the back when one was deserved. He was cautiously optimistic when the time came to conduct the Alpha III test. It was the end of the day when the switch was turned on, but nobody happened. Within minutes the entire team heard the news. Screams could be heard down the hallway. Perhaps the most telling moment was when Tran looked down at the companys parking lot and saw most of his project team walking by themselves to their cars. As Callie chased some wild bunnies, Tran pondered what he should do next. 1. How effective has Tran been as a project manager? Explain. 2. What problem(s) does Tran face?

Payroll will need to be monitored, due to PAYE regulations. Inkwell will need to ensure that they pay everyone for the correct amount of hours they work, as they pay employees per hour. Inkwell are not doing this as yet, as they do not have a clocking in and out system, and the hours are written down by the employee, which relies a lot on trusting the employee.Business will use Income statements, specie flows and statement of financial position for many reasons. immediate payment flows for example will be used so that a rough value of how much cash is available in the business, which can influence whether or not payments will be have to be delayed or debts chased up quicker. Incom e statements and financial positions can be used to work out various formulas to work out how well a business is operating, and where the business can improve. For example, some costs in parts of the business which are high compared to elsewhere/other businesses could be cut.

Moreover, there were some similarities between this article and Lee Su Kim (2000 study. However there are some differences especially in the attitude towards english. In this study, the theme that features more prominently is the subjects awareness of the pragmatism and social advantage in being well-versed in English, along with the indication that a significant number of subjects amongst the 20 interviewed were found to be multilingual with English featuring as a dominant language. although orthering between english speaking and native speaking are evident, it doesnt depend to factor as prominently as the resentments that were reported by the subjects in Lee Su Kims (2003) study. This may be due to the attitude towards english as english is pertinent international language of the world and they ar e accepting the language as a relevant too in their lives rather than a second or foreign language. To conclude, the author agrees and found that to some of the respondents, english seem to be a dominant language in all domains. Besides that english too does affect their social status in the society. People who use english is regard as someone who are knowledge and some may been intimidated by the english speaking people. In the beginning of the article, the authors mentioned that there is little research on how the use of english affects the identity of Malaysian speakers. it is hoped that i n future, more research will be done in finding the impact of english to the Malaysian society. The authors suggests a similar study on the impact of English on identity could be adeptly carried out in other areas of Malaysia, particularly East Malaysia for its rich and extremely unique sociocultural composition. the author also suggests A study on the impact and roles of the English language in other traditionally non-native speaker or outer circle countries would also prove beneficial in contributing to the body of knowledge towards understanding the implications of the spread of English as the language of the world today. In my point of view, I found that this article is easy to read because the choices of word that the authors use are simple and understandable. Besides that, I think that the discussion of the findings also proven that english has becoming a dominant language in young Malaysian today. I especially like the discussion past as it discusses the findings and relate them to the reality of e nglish in young Malaysian today. Based on what i have read, i found that some of the respondents experiences re similar to mine. I believe that when using english, it helps to build my self-esteem and confidence socially. I too believe that when using english, I am being perceived differently by other people. Hence, I strongly believe that using english in my daily lives to makes me appear more knowledgeable and people do look highly on me. And because English has become global today, to have a competent knowledge of the language is seen as a useful key for start many doors.I found that i learned a lot from this article, firstly is that it is such an eye ruiner for me as how young Malaysian and the society perceived one that is fluent in english. I carry off it as a motivation for me to improve myself to be better speaker of english and also to be a better language teacher for my students to make sure they too will be able to be a proficient speaker of english. However i believe that no matter how fluent one in english an how important english is in the society today and to the future society, it should not shape ones identity.

Nature and Self-Reliance Essay

1. Which of the three beliefs of transcendental philosophy is the most stressed in the two essays? recitation specific details from each essay to support your response.Individualism is the tenet of transcendentalism that is most stress in the two essays of Emerson. Individualism is the tenet that is talked close to the most in two of the essays. In Self-Reliance the main topic of is to be virtuosoself, and to trust unrivalledself. In addition, in the essay says that one should do what he or she recalls is right, not what opposites believe is right. For example, if a somebody considers Judaism to be the true theology then he should follow Judaism and not what everyone is following. Also, the essay talks nigh how an individual should be a nonconformist. A psyche should not copy what otherwise commonwealth do or believe. For instance, if everyone likes to hunt tho one psyche doesnt then the one individual should not go hunting only to be like the rest. If a soulfulness copies others he or she wouldnt know what to do when in that respect is no one to copy anymore, he or she would have lost themselves. If a person copies others they support themselves, and their personalities. One must always follow what they believe, and what they like they should be independent from what other pack believe or like. For instance, if two people think that the answer to a question is A, but another person think its C, then the person should stick to his or her answer and not spay it because the other person think its another answer. Also, Emerson says in the essay that one should not manage about what others think of oneself, for example one should not care if people think he or she is braggart(a) or sincere but instead only if care about what one think about himself. For example, if a person likes cultivation but everyone says that the person is boring because that person likes reading the person should care because that is what he likes. Just like in the es say Self-Reliance the essay Nature also contains the tenet of individualism. In Nature it talks about individualism in a different way that in Self-Reliance, instead of telling the people to believe in them Nature talks about how to acquire one true self. It says that to find our true self we must go to nature. In nature onecan find peace, and tranquility to look for there true self. For example, many times a person cant find peace in the city because of the people and the noise, so they have to go to nature to find peace. Nature can give an individual all the answers one needs. Nature helps a man find reason, and faith. Nature gives the individual all the tools one needs to find their true self. 2. contend what do Self-Reliance and Nature seem to suggest about Emersons opinion of Change? Use details from the essays to support your response.Self-Reliance and Nature suggest that Emerson think of change as something good and bad. Emerson sees change as something good when the person that does it is because that is what he or she considers right. For example, if a person changes religion because he feels the other religions is the correct one then it is a good change. Change is good when one does it for himself and not for anyone else because erst he or she does it for someone else they lose themselves. For instance, if a person that reads a lot stops reading because he halt liking reading then it is a good change, but if the person stopped reading because people told him to stopped reading then its a bad change. Change is good if its going to help the person in someway, and if the person can stay true to himself. For example, if a wealthy person is humble lives in a big house and decided to move to a small house then it is a good change but if a poor person lives in a small house and moves to a bigger house to show off then it is a bad change. A change is bad if a person does it for another person. For example, if a person stops singing to be friends with anot her person then it is a bad change. If a person changes because everyone else is doing something else it is a bad change. For example, if a person likes apples, but no one else does, and because of that the person stops take apples then its a bad change. A change is bad if the person changes because the other people dont like what the person is doing. For instance, if a person likes to sing but the other people dont like that person singing and he stops singing because of that then it is a bad change. A change can be good or bad depending on the situation.

The Autobiography of Malcolm X

What Is the convey of the title? Does It have a surface or deeper meaning? The title The Autobiography of Malcolm X is a book of Malcolm Axs life story, which is a powerful voice in our raw history. During his lifetime he went through with(predicate) several significant changes in his lifestyle and beliefs. Many of these things were influenced by his travels, life events and who he came Into contact with. 2. come out the settings historical significance During Malcolm Axs lifetime he traveled to many places in the United States as rise up as out of the country. He was innate(p) In Omaha, Nebraska. Malcolm father, Earl Little, was a traveling Baptist minister so they moved more or less in the united States. At the age of seventeen Malcolm moved to Boston, Massachusetts. This is where he began to get problematical with drugs, gambling, drinking, pimps, and stealing. 3. Does this clip make a political observation about African American culture? Does it perpetuate electronegative stereotypes and myths about African Americans or does it deflate these myths and stereotypes? Malcolm X continued to Jump around in his beliefs. This makes me peculiarity If he lived longer would he have still believed the same thing. From when he was a child, a adolescent in Boston, prison, following under Elijah Muhammad, to creating his admit religion. Malcolm focused most of his life on people creation bias. At the beginning of his book he said that his father was even bias Like the whites. He treated Malcolm different, compared to his brothers and sisters he said It was because he was light skinned. Did his father say this or Is this Just Malcolm conviction?Who in this world isnt bias about something it may not be color of skin, but monetary well being, background or heritage. Im not saying that this Justifies being prejudice a drawst African Americans. However, if you are forever and a day looking for something you will see what youre searching for, even If It really Isn t there. Which Is something I fell Malcolm X does repeatedly throughout his life. Race is always brought up in his arguments. Doesnt he trust a better for the filthy club? He is criticizing his own people. Is this what we want African Americans to be seen as, disparaging their own race. Malcolm portrays as an wrathful black male against the whites, judgment should not been applied in anger. Malcolm is constantly against the whites and the African Americans that have do a better life in at this time hat was a white world. commute is gradual the black community is trying out the new waters and opportunities they were given. Malcolm X Is known as a great black activist, but I see that his teaching of how to be an Independent African American community was not an effective way.Blacks are known today as majority of the universe of discourse of our prisons and majority of single family homes. Should the black community continue to preach Malcolm support of violence as resoluteness to these problems? We should teach self reliance and a strong male presence In the home plate. Malcolm did teach these things so far he did not teach non violence, which I believe is a key part of this problem. 5. Identify an impound audience for this scarper. Does this work have universal appeal? Before I say what audience this work is appropriate for I think I should ask if Malcolm X was a leader that should be followed. Malcolm was born in poverty and grew up as a trouble teenager. After prison Malcolm changed his life and became a leader for the black community. Was he a leader that should be followed? Did he help the black community step forward as a group of people wanting equal freedom and rights? at that place were many historical leaders that led groups of people that had efferent views to another leader. But which leader gave route to a better lifestyle?I could argue that this work is appropriate for young black males. That it could be inspirational for them to see a man go from poverty to a historical leader. However, do we want these young black males to look up to a leader that didnt really change the world for the ethical? I think we should see if today, fifty years later, the movement Malcolm led has benefited the black community. Malcolm became deeply involved in the growing turmoil of the civil rights movement. As a radical black leader, Malcolm X advocated black pride and financial self-reliance.He ultimately rose to become a world-renowned African American and human rights activist. I think Malcolm Axs belief of becoming self reliant and building a strong black family household is what every person should strive for. However, his embrace of violence is something I do not believe is a way to overcome and be recognized as a black community wanting their own opportunities and liberty. I still feel like today violence is used in hope to gain freedom and opportunities. This would make me hesitate to advice a young black male to read this wo rk plot looking for guidance.

Kafka’s The Metamorphosis

many literary critics were both awed and puzzled with Franz Kafkas brilliantly written yet absurd, and often, grossly dreamlike form of writing. Die Verwandlung or The Metamorphosis is Kafkas longest work, al nearly resembling a novel, and is also cardinal of the most acclaimed. From the taradiddle of Gregor, who woke up one morning to find himself transformed into an insect (beetle), the readers can late see the exploration of an individuals existence and the pain he experiences due to physical closing off and other peoples indifference.Using a purely psychological out carry, it is easy to view The Metamorphosis as a mirror of Kafkas testify demonsfor every artist is said to impart a component of his self into his works. Thus, The Metamorphosis may be Kafkas avouch struggle with his past and present, a private process that gradu aloney made its personal manner to the writers conscious writings and developed into a alarming plot about the life of Gregor Samza who curiously t ransmuted into a physically hideous creature. This is why Kafka stands to encourage the empathy and compassion of viewers when the story is t mature from the standpoint of Gregor.First, Kafka is a struggling writer early on in his life. He lived his life in emotional dependence on his p arnts. There were mixed effects of love and abominate and though he longed to marry, he considered sex as dirty. By choosing Gregor as the main character who experiences the transformation, he elicits the empathy of readers so far as he performs a lackluster life.(Franz Kafka. 1883-1924). In the story, Gregor Samza is the pillar that supports his family. He is a somewhat successful salesman and earns enough to pay off his fathers debt and bring food on the table. He is the one who strives hard for the familys upkeep. When the tragedy happens to him and not to any genus Phallus of the family, then, the repercussions are greater. The pillar of their family is of a sudden gone and they have to str ive to go about their daily lives without his help. In fact, they have to bear the gist of seeing a horrible creature in their house and then to think that the creature is Gregor, blanket to pretending that their lives are normal, nevertheless.Second, Kafka had no intention of publishing any of his works. He actually wanted it destroyed. It was his maven Max Brod who pursued its publication. Thus, Kafka, actually had all the liberty to create Gregor as the target of all his frustrations and dependence feelings. He gained all the outlet to release these emotions and then destroy it in the end. It gave a vicarious feeling of relief to him. (Franz Kafka. 1883-1924).Lastly, Kafka felt a certain kind of weakness despite the rebellion he showed. Creating Gregor as the brunt of all his impotence gave an apt target for the same kind of impotence that Gregor had to be imbued with. .(Franz Kafka. 1883-1924).We find reasons for Kafkas way of telling the story because Kafka never worked as a traveling salesman nor even experienced playing as a primary financier for his family. Yet a parallelism can be seen in the midst of the two men, both before and after Gregors transformation. Gregor knows his fathers ruthless temper, and with respect for the old man intermingles fear. There are scenes in the story where the older Samsa demonstrates this merciless attitude towards his son because of the last mentioneds repugnant appearance.Mr. Samsa cruelly shoves Gregor into his room using a walking cane, and during a stressful encounter, pelts him with orchard apple trees wherein an apple lodges into his insect back and begins to rot (Kafka 37-38). Nevertheless, it was through Gregor that Kafka was able to show how goodness permeates in everyone, but except when instances are happy and perfect. When things turn to worst, individuals resort to a coping strategy that alienates the ugly and the useless.Putting Gregor as the member of the family that is transformed into an insect gives us a glimpse of how Kafka may have felt at time in his life. Apart from the refined and healthy appearance, Kafka was depressed most of the time. It was known that he suffered from migraine, constipation, and boils, which are all products of pent-up stress and unhealthy emotions common to those with troubled pasts (Franz Kafka). No wonder that the bizarre dominated his form of expression, in all probability as a form of a release from the rigid normality that imprisons individuals into normalness. In fact, there is no other way of invoking from the readers such strong feelings akin to the emotions of the writer than by using frightful and bright images resembling mans outlandish nightmares. Then again, Kafka never wanted some of his works published for the inherent population to read. Writing is sacred for Kafka, and a refuge from a seemingly menacing and indifferent world (Franz Kafka. Books and Writers).Gregors transformation into a beetle is parallel to Kafkas acquiring of tuberculosis. The physical degradation intend the collapse of a persons once important status and the revulsion of others. At first, love ones react with grief whilst trying to be considerate to the afflicted one. In the long run, however, those with debilitating weaknesses are soon scorned. This long-time fear of being weak and being segregated translated into writing, while Kafka tried his best to look normal even when recuperating.Kafkas tuberculosis purportedly affected his writings in such a way that his stories show fear of physical and mental collapse, which was of course also seen in The Metamorphosis (Franz Kafka). Further, the nightmarish plots pertain to dehumanization as exemplified with Samsas metamorphosis into an insect. Even more frightening is the effect of this dehumanization, wherein everything beautiful, even Gretes kind-heartedness, comes to its fearful end.For some readers, The Metamorphosis is allegorical. Reading the story makes one constantly hope for a totally different conclusion, or if not, for some figurative message hidden behind the lines. Yet what happened in the story is totally literal and blunt Gregor died as a beetle, his death comes silently in the night. It is innocuous of any melodrama or of any dramatic revelations, so that the whole meaning or essence of the story is left for the readers to figure out. Kafkas literature, The Metamorphosis included, have since served as windows into the late writers own life and soul his experiences, fears and tribulations. His works are full of the complexities that are deemed as representative of the human existence, and most importantly, complexities that endlessly haunted the author until his end.Kafka stands to be redeemed of his supposedly ordinary existence, even if temporary, in the way he depicted Gregor. All the angst that Kafka experienced in his life poured out on Gregor who had to bear the brunt of his disappointments. He made Gregor useless by transforming him into a hideous insect in order to assuage his own uselessness. It had to be Gregor because he was the breadwinner. When Gregor dies in the end, the impact is great because as Kafka writes it, that there is a heavy weightiness lifted from the spirit of the family and their mourning is short. The story ends with the whole family driving into the countryside and their parents thoughts wondering about how to find a husband for Grete. There is a great sadness in the way Kafka decides to end his story because Gregor is not missed at all, but instead, his parents just try to find ways of looking for a viable husband for Gretea replacement for Gregor who was their breadwinner. In the final analysis, Kafka succeeds in getting the sympathy of readers as he wove his story until Gregors death.Works CitedKafka, Franz. Appelbaum, Stanley (trans.).
